VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:

This document describes the duties and responsibilities of academic and non-academic staff of Pan African Institute for Development-West Africa (PAID-WA) and is a binding document for each academic and non-academic staff member. The responsibilities shall include some or all of the following: teaching, student advising, research and creative activities, service and administrative responsibilities. These responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend duties, as well as student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts. There are additional position-specific duties that may change with each academic year, through discussions between staff and the Director.

As a guiding principle, each academic staff member is expected to promote a general spirit of Pan-Africanism, to nurture a “united Africa”-mindset supporting the sustainable development for a prosperous future of the African continent and to foster commitment for the continental development goals as laid down by the PAID-WA strategic goals and objectives.

A) TEACHING STAFF VACANCIES

The following are the qualifications and other requirements for the academic positions.

S/N Position Qualification/Requirement
  Professor Candidate must be holder of relevant Bachelors’, Masters’ and Ph.D. Degree from recognized Universities years teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognized University. Candidate must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic leadership in his/her academic discipline. Candidate must also be specialists in advertised fields of study with evidence of at least twenty (20) scholarly publications in learned, academic and peer reviewed journals in University and apex research/training institutes, plus evidence of successful supervision of at least five (5) Postgraduate dissertation and Thesis Masters/Ph.D. Degree Candidate must provide also evidence of community service and be registered or registrable with the relevant professional/scientific bodies as applicable. Candidate must also have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Reader Candidate must possess the relevant Bachelors’, Masters’ and Ph.D. Degree from recognized Universities with at least two (2) years teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognized University. Candidate must have evidence of at least fifteen (15) scholarly publications in learned, academic and peer reviewed journals in University and apex research/training institutes, plus evidence of successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters/Ph.D. Degree. Candidate must provide evidence of community service and be registered or registrable with the relevant professional/scientific bodies as applicable. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Lecturer Candidate must possess a good Bachelors’, Masters’ and Ph.D. Degree from recognized Universities with at least two (2) years teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognized University. Candidate must have evidence of at least ten (10) scholarly publications in learned journals in University and apex research/training institutes, plus evidence of successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters/Ph.D. Degree. Candidate must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional/scientific bodies as applicable. Evidence of community service will be an added advantage. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Lecturer-I Candidate must be holder of relevant Bachelors and Masters’ Degree, from recognized Universities. Candidate with Ph. D Degree will have an added advantage. Candidate must have at least three (3) years teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognized University. Candidate must also have evidence of at least eight (8) scholarly publications in learned journals in University and apex research/training institutes (or three journal publications and participation in four (4) professional projects). Candidate must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional/scientific bodies as applicable. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Lecturer-II Candidate must be holder of relevant Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree from recognized Universities with at least three (3) years of teaching and research experience as Assistant Lecturer in a recognized University. Candidate with Ph. d. Degree will be an added advantage. Candidate must also have evidence of at least three (3) publications in Peer reviewed learned journals in University and apex research/training institutes or participation in at least two (2) Professional/Research Projects. Candidate must be registered or registrable with the relevant professional/scientific bodies as applicable. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Assistant Lecturer Candidate must be holder of Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree in the relevant areas from recognized Universities. Evidence of publications in learned journals in University and apex research/training institutes is also required. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Graduate Assistant Candidate must be holder of Bachelors’ degree (with minimum of Second-Class Upper Division) in the relevant fields from recognized Universities. Candidate must have evidence of NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

B) NON-TEACHING STAFF VACANCIES

S/N POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENT
  Assistant Registrar   Candidate must possess a good honor s degree from a recognized University, plus at least six (6) years post-qualification cognate experience. Or a Master’s degree plus at least three (3) years cognate experience. In addition, Registration with any Professional Body such as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA)or any other relevant Professional Body will be an added advantage.
  Senior Assistant Registrar   Candidate must possess a good honors’ degree from a recognized University plus at least eight (8) years post qualification cognate experience. A post graduate degree in relevant field is an added advantage. In addition, must be a duly registered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) or any other relevant Professional Body.
  Administrative Officer II Candidate must possess a good honors’ degree of not below second class lower from a recognized University plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Administrative Officer I   Candidate must possess good honours degree of not below second class lower from a recognized University plus at least three (3) years post qualification cognate experience or a Master’s degree in relevant field.
  Medical Laboratory Scientist II   The candidate must possess a good first degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) plus registration with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (MLTN) plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
  Medical Laboratory Scientist I   The candidate must possess a good first degree in Medical Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (IMLTN) plus three (3) years post qualification cognate experience OR Master’s degree in MLS with at least one (1) year cognate experience.
  Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist   The candidate must possess a good first degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) plus registration with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (IMLTN) plus six (6) years post qualification cognate experience OR a Master’s degree in MLS with three (3) years post qualification cognate experience OR Ph.D. in MLS and evidence of registration.
  Nursing Officer The candidate must possess N.R.N or N.R.M
  Nursing Officer II The candidate must possess N.R.N or N.RM. plus, one (1) year post registration
  Nursing Officer I   Candidate must possess B.NSC. Or N.R.N or N.R.M. plus four (4) years residency. Or N.R.N / N.R.M. plus three (3) post registration or specialist qualification e.g. Intensive Care Nursing, Coronary Care Nursing, Public Health etc.
  Senior Nursing Officer   The candidate must possess any of the followings: B.NSC. plus, three (3) residency or three (3) years post qualification Or N.R.N or N.R.M. plus seven (7) years residency Or N.R.N or N.R.M. plus six (6) years post registration or specialist qualification e.g. Intensive Care Nursing, Coronary Care Nursing, Public Health etc.
  Principal Nursing Officer/ Nursing Sister   The candidate must possess any of the followings: B.NSC. plus, six (6) years residency or six (6) years post qualification. Or N.R.N or N.R.M. plus Ten (10) years residency N.R.N or N.R.M. plus Ten (10) years post registration or specialist qualification e.g. Intensive Care Nursing, Coronary Care Nursing, Public Health etc.
  Medical Officer M.B.B.S. plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Medical Officer   Candidate must possess M.B.B.S. plus three (3) years’ experience as Medical officer. M.B.B.S. Plus Diploma in a medically related discipline plus part 1.
  Principal Medical Officer II   Candidate must possess M.B.B.S. Plus six (6) years cognate experience. Possession of a higher qualification and/or acceptable evidence of professional membership will be an advantage. b. M.B.B.S. Plus diploma in a related discipline with three (3) years post Diploma. Or M.B.B.S. Plus masters in a related discipline plus part I, plus three (3) years’ experience.
  Director of Health Services   a. Candidate must possess M.B.B.S. Plus fifteen (15) years cognate experience. Possession of a higher qualification and/or acceptable evidence of professional membership will be an advantage. b. Specialist/Fellow or Consultant plus PART II plus nine (9) years qualification (as a specialist).
  Higher Library Officer Candidate must possess an HND/B.Sc. in Library Studies/Science from a recognized Institution with a minimum of cower credit or 2nd class lower division plus NYSC Discharge certificate or evidence of exemption. OR Diploma in Library Science/Studies or OND in Librarianship plus five (5) years post qualification experience
  Senior Library Officer     Candidate must possess an HND/B.Sc. in Library Studies/Science from a recognized Institution with a minimum of Lower Credit or 2nd Class Lower Division plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate with Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  Principal Library Officer I Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc. in Library Studies/Science from a recognized Institution with a minimum of Lower Credit or 2ndClass Lower Division plus NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate with Minimum of 10 years relevant experience. In addition, candidate must be a duly registered member of the Nigeria Library Association.
  Principal Internal Auditor   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus nine (9) years post qualification experience. Or A good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus membership of a recognized Professional Accountancy body with six (6) years post qualification experience. A Master’s degree in Accountancy with six (6) years relevant experience.
  Internal Auditor I   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus three (3) years post qualification experience. OR A good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus membership of a recognized Professional Accountancy body. A Master’s degree in Accountancy plus at least one (1) year post qualification experience
  Accountant II Candidate must a good B.Sc. Degree or HND in Accountancy plus NYSC experience.
  Accountant I   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus membership of a recognized Professional Accountancy body (ACCA, ICAN, ANAN, ACMA) with a minimum of three (3) years cognate experience.
  Senior Accountant   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus membership of a recognized Professional Accountancy body (ACCA, ICAN, ANAN, ACMA) with a minimum of six (6) years cognate experience.
  Principal Accountant   Candidate must possess a good B. Sc. degree in Accountancy plus nine (9) years post qualification experience. Or A good B.Sc. degree or HND in Accountancy plus membership of a recognized Professional Accountancy body (ACCA, ICAN, ANAN, ACMA) with six (6) years post qualification experience. Or b. A good M.Sc. degree in Accountancy with six (6) years relevant experience
  Confidential Secretary II   The candidate must possess WASC OR GCE O/L with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, plus 100/50wpm in Shorthand and Typewriting or its equivalent. Government Secretarial Training Certificate and at least four (4) years post qualification experience as well as possess the ability to perform within the University system OR ND, NCE or OND in Secretarial Studies and at least four (4) years post qualification experience. Candidate must be computer literate with demonstrable ability to apply various computer packages
  Confidential Secretary I Applicant must possess any of the following: a. OND/ND/OND in Secretarial Studies with seven (7) years post qualification experience plus evidence of proficiency in Computer. B.Tech/B.Sc./HND in Secretarial Studies Administration/Office Technology and Management or relevant discipline with a minimum of 2nd Class/Lower Credit with Proficiency in Computer and Shorthand plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Confidential Secretary a. ND/NCE/OND in Secretarial Studies with nine (9) years post qualification experience plus evidence of proficiency in Computer. b. B.Tech/B.Sc./HND in Secretarial Studies Administration/ Office Technology and Management or relevant discipline with three (3) years cognate experience plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Principal Confidential Secretary II   a. ND/NCE/OND in Secretarial Studies with Twelve (12) years post qualification experience plus evidence of proficiency in Computer. b. B.Tech/B.Sc./HND in Secretarial Studies Administration/ Office Technology and Management or relevant discipline with six (6) years cognate experience plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Quality Control Officer   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. in Biochemistry or Microbiology from a recognized Institution with a minimum of Class Lower Division plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
  Quality Control Officer I   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. in Biochemistry or Microbiology from a recognized Institution with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Minimum of 3 Years working experience.
  Senior Quality Control Officer   Candidate must possess a good B.Sc. in Biochemistry or Microbiology from a recognized Institution with a minimum of Class Lower Division plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Minimum of 6 years working experience.
  Stores/ Purchasing Officer   Candidate must possess a Final Examination of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply or ND/OND in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply.
  Higher Stores/Purchasing Officer Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc. in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Stores/Purchasing Officer   Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc. in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience
  Principal Stores/Purchasing Officer   Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc. in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption plus six (6) years relevant experience registrable with Institute of Purchasing and Supply
  Assistant Chief Stores/Purchasing Officer   Candidate must possess HND/B.Sc. in Business Management/Administration, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Minimum of nine (9) years relevant experience and registered with Institute of Purchasing and Supply
  House-Keeper   Candidate must possess a good ND, NCE or OND in Institutional Management or any relevant course, plus 3 years’ experience in Institutional House Keeping.
  Higher House-Keeper   Candidate must possess a good University degree or HND in Institutional Management, Institutional House Keeping or any relevant course from a recognized institution, plus NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate. ND, NCE or OND in Institutional Management, Institution House Keeping or other relevant course from a recognized institution, plus three (3) years post qualification experience.
  Senior House-Keeper     Candidate must possess a good University degree or HND in Institutional Management, Institutional House-Keeping or other relevant course from a recognized institution, plus three (3) years post qualification experience.
  Principal House-Keeper     Candidate must possess a good University Degree or HND in Institutional Management, Institutional House Keeping or other relevant course from a recognized University, plus six (6) years post qualification experience.
  Principal House Keeper II   Candidate must possess a good University degree or HND in Institutional Management/Home Management or Institutional House Keeping from a recognized institution, plus nine (9) years post qualification experience.
  Pharmacist   Candidate must possess a B.Pharm, B.Sc. (Pharm) with full registration with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria and evidence of completion or exemption from NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Pharmacist   a). Candidate must possess a B.Pharm, B.Sc. (Pharm) with full registration with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria, plus six (6) years residency or six (6) years post full registration. b) M.Pharm, M.Sc. (Pharm) with full registration with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria, plus three (3) years residency or three years post full registration.
  Systems Analyst II   Candidate must possess a HND or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  Senior Systems Analyst   Candidate must possess a HND or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering plus six (6) years post qualification experience. Or A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with three (3) years post qualification experience
  Principal Systems Analyst     Candidate must possess a HND or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering plus nine (9) years post qualification experience, Or A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with six (6) years post qualification experience
  Health Record Officers Candidate must possess a minimum a certificate from school of health information
  Ward attendants/cleaners/gardeners Candidate must possess a minimum of SSCE
